This is how I organised my (work) life

Hi, I'm Raounak, a journalist and author of the book "Even Good Friends ." In this newsletter, I write about everything I'm interested in. This time: three apps and one method for organizing your (work) life.

I write, read, and speak with a lot of people for my work. I also always have more ideas than I can immediately implement, and there are short-term and long-term projects in my work life.

So far, everything is going well for me (if I say so myself) thanks to a number of programs/methods that I use to keep everything organized and stay relaxed.

Are they coming:

✏ Beeper
I use this app to receive all my messages from different platforms in one app (I still ask for things to be put in email, because then I can save or forward them to colleagues more easily).

🥊 Notion
I use this to organize and store my ideas, random text, and my own articles. I also use Notion to make lists of books, series, or movies I still want to watch, what I still want to buy for my home (an extension cord) or myself (a Dyson Airwrap ;)), as well as interesting things I come across that I can't quite put away, like illustrations or funny videos.

📆 Google Calendar
Besides appointments, I also enter my travel time, deadlines, and the birthdays of loved ones here. I use colors to indicate whether something is in person, by phone, or online. For phone appointments, I set a reminder 5 minutes beforehand. For in-person appointments, I receive a notification when my travel time begins. For birthdays, I receive a notification 2 days beforehand (just in time to send a card, if I wanted to).

🏹 Google Boomerang
This is a plugin for Gmail that allows me to recur or schedule emails at a specific time.

🧠 Second Brain
This is both a book and a method for organizing projects and ideas. I read Tiago Forte's book in 2022 and started working on mastering the method. I created a Notion Template around it that suits my needs. I have a separate section for newspaper stories and a separate area for my "things" outside of the newspaper, like my book.

💫 Bonus:
This way you won't forget your friends' children
